Welcome to SC Reptiles - Tree Monitor Lizards, this site is dedicated to the captive care and breeding of Blue Tree Monitor Lizards.  Currently I have a single proven pair of these colourful animals.

The Blue Tree Monitor Lizard (Varanus Macraei) is a fairly small monitor lizard reaching lengths of 100cm nose to tail.  They are arboreal (tree dwellers) and as their name indicates, they have a stunning blue colouration; I do not know why these tree dwellers are coloured blue and cannot understand how this acts as camouflage.  These incredible animals were only discovered scientifically in 2001 on their native islands in West Irian (Indonesia) and are not often seen in the pet trade.  This is a shame as they make excellent pets, being small, very active and intelligent.  My pair spend much of the day hunting for the many locusts they share their vivarium with, they use the whole the available space, and as such I have provided them with a large vivarium both in width and height.  Their other favourite food items are pinky mice and chickens eggs.

Other animals in my collection are dogs, newts, frogs, toads, tortoises and a stunning collection of Royal Python Morphs, Leopard Gecko Morphs and Iguanas.  I am very proud of my collection and place every effort in the care and welfare of all the animals.

I hope you enjoy this web site it is regularly updated so please keep revisiting.
